Concert photographs are sometimes used to advertise the artist or band along with the venue. The first permanent colour photograph was taken in 1861 using the three-color-separation principle first printed by Scottish physicist James Clerk Maxwell in 1855. The foundation of just about all practical color processes, Maxwell’s thought was to take three separate black-and-white images via purple, green and blue filters. This provides the photographer with the three fundamental channels required to recreate a color picture. Transparent prints of the images could be projected by way of comparable shade filters and superimposed on the projection display screen, an additive methodology of colour copy.
